The County owned and operated Recycling Center, in Berlin Township is geographically located in the center of the County, on County property.

Recorder of Deeds
The Recorder of Deeds Office is the custodian of the records and indexes relating to conveyance of land or the transfer of real property in the County. These include deeds, mortgages, subdivision plans, rights-of-way and easements.

Register of Wills
The Register of Wills has jurisdiction over the probate of wills and granting of letters to a personal representative. Acting as the Commonwealth’s Agent, the register is responsible for collecting the Pennsylvania inheritance tax and filing the inheritance tax return. A single official serves as both Register and Recorder in Wayne County and is elected every four years.

Sheriff
The Wayne County Sheriff is charged with providing security and protection for the Court of Common Pleas and court related functions include serving and enforcing orders of the Court, transporting prisoners, arresting fugitives, serving and enforcing bench warrants, child custody order and protection from abuse. The office also issues permits to carry concealed weapons and license to sell firearms. The sheriff is elected every four years.

Tax Assessment
The Wayne County Assessment Office maintains and updates real property assessment records and prepares and distributes yearly tax rolls used by Wayne County, all 28 municipalities and the 6 school districts located within the County.

Wayne County Tax Claim Bureau conducts Tax Sales under the general provisions of The Pennsylvania Real Estate Tax Sale Law Act 542 of 1947 and its Amendments.

Treasurer
The elected Treasurer is tasked with collecting and depositing all monies due to the county. However, the treasurer’s office does not collect real estate taxes, which are collected by officials elected at the township and borough level. The Treasurer’s Office also sells hunting, fishing and dog licenses, sportsman’s firearms permits and license to conduct small games of chance.
