HONESDALE -- The Secretary of the Commonwealth, Veronica Degraffenreid, has ordered a statewide recount and re-canvass of the entire vote cast for the Office of the Judge of the Commonwealth Court to be conducted by the county boards of elections. The recount will commence on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 9 am in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room on the third floor of the Wayne County Courthouse and will continue until completed.

The Wayne County Board of Election has decided to manually recount the paper ballots, using county employees. Each person will be assigned on ballot box at a time to open and manually record the votes cast for the office of Judge of the Commonwealth Court.

As instructed by the procedures outlined in section 1401(e) and (g) of the Election Code, the county boards of elections must “give notice in writing to proper custodian of voting machines, and to each candidate, and to the county chairperson of each party or political body, affected by the recount or re-canvass; and each such candidate may be present in person, or by attorney, and each of such parties, or bodies, may send two representatives to be present at such recount or re-canvass.”  See 25 P.S. 3154(e).
