Fingerprinting Services

The office has resumed electronic fingerprinting for IDentiGO clients. These social distancing and personal protocols apply for all services. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department partners with IdentoGo to provide fingerprinting services for people seeking criminal background checks for employment or volunteer purposes.

Many professionals are required to undergo a criminal background check, and since Pennsylvania toughened its child protection laws in the wake of the Jerry Sanduskey Abuse Scandal, volunteers who work directly with young people – coaches, scout masters, 4-H leaders and bus drivers etc. -- must do so as well. The IdentoGO works with the state as the exclusive provider on these services.

The Sheriff’s Office already had the equipment and trained staff to handle fingerprinting for the county and for law enforcement, so it seemed like a good fit, said Sheriff Mark Steelman.

iDENTOGOThe Sheriff’s Office, on the first floor of the Wayne County Courthouse Annex in Honesdale, takes appointments and walk-ins only on Fridays and Tuesdays from 8:30 to 11:20 am and from 12:20 to 4:10 pm. Those requiring fingerprinting must be registered on the IdentoGo website, whether you make an appointment or want to come in at a time of convenience.

When registering, you will be prompted to enter a service code, which is provided by whomever is requesting the background check and this service code also determines the cost. Forms of payment are credit card, cashier’s check, money order or a business check. No cash for this service
