Wayne County District A.G. Howell announced today that the Wayne County Detectives were awarded a Local Law Enforcement Support Grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency in the amount of $64,170.00. The grant will fund the purchase of six body-worn cameras, five in-car computer systems, and other equipment.
The body-worn cameras will be worn by county detectives during traffic stops, arrest warrant - search warrant services and other contacts with the public. These cameras will promote officer safety and efficiency while building trust between law enforcement and the community.
The in-car computer systems will allow county detectives greater access to technology while they are in their vehicles. This will save time when they are outside of the office setting and provide for greater investigative proficiency.
