[ARCHIVED] Sex Offender, 24, Receives 10.5-25 Years in State Prison

Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced that Joseph Christopher Krombel, age 24, was sentenced by President Judge Janine Edwards on Thursday, October 20, 2022, to a total of 10.5 years to 25 years in a State Correctional Institution as a result of a prior plea to the charges of aggravated indecent assault of children and corruption of minors. Mr. Krombel pled no contest to molesting the three (3) minor children that occurred between the dates of January 1, 2017, and August 2020. President Judge Edwards also found Mr. Krombel to be classified as a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP).

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, on July 19, 2020, a 12 year old juvenile male disclosed that he and his three younger siblings had been being sexually molested by Krombel. He reported he was made to watch porn, had been sexually assaulted by Krombel, and was told to not tell anyone. The abuse began in 2017 and stopped in April 2020 when KROMBEL left the residence. All of the victims’ disclosed the similar sexual abuse that happened to themselves and what they saw happen to each other.

District Attorney Howell stated “The pain and suffering that these young children endured by Mr. Krombel will endure much longer upon these children than any length of incarceration handed down to Mr. Krombel. However, hopefully the kids will be able to move on and grow up in a safe environment with time, support, and strength. ”
