HONESDALE – The Wayne County Commissioners awarded more than $60,000 in Hotel Tax funds to 10 local organizations to help promote events and activities in the community that encourage overnight stay.
The awards are reviewed by the County’s Hotel Tax Advisory Board in conjunction with the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, which administers the fund and assists the grantees in meeting their marketing goals. Awards have been approved as follows:
2021 Hotel Tax Award
Chamber of the Northern Poconos (Marketing)
Dorflinger Factory Museum
Greater Honesdale Partnership
Rail-Trail Council of NEPA
The Cooperage Project
WP Waterways & Trails Alliance
Wayne County Creative Arts Council
Wayne County Historical Society
Women’s Club of Honesdale
Wayne County Chief Clerk Andrew M. Seder noted that a number of traditional applicants did not submit proposals, as some events and activities are still tentative due to uncertainties surrounding the rapidly-changing COVID-19 restrictions. The county plans to reopen the application process sometime in May to allow for additional applicants who have had more of a chance to see how COVID restrictions will impact their events or operations.
