[ARCHIVED] Drugs & Alcohol Dominate Guilty Pleas in Court This Week

HONESDALE -- The following cases were addressed by the Wayne County President Janine Edwards and Senior Judge Raymond Hamill in the Wayne County Court of Common Pleas on Thursday, Aug. 16:

MATTHEW STRACKBEIN, 29 of Lake Ariel, was sentenced on two separate cases to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 35 days nor more than 12 months for two counts of DUI (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay fines in the total amount of $1,300, participate in and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and perform 50 hours of community service within 6 months. The incidents occurred on August 24, 2017 in Hawley Borough, with a BAC of .211% and the other occurring on November 9, 2017, in Cherry Ridge Township with a BAC of .242%.

MATTHEW THOBEN, 27, of Hankins, NY, was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 15 days nor more than 23 ½ months for one count of Delivery of a Controlled Substance (F). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay restitution in the amount of $1,000, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, perform 100 hours of community service, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250 for the cost. The incident occurred between August 30, 2017 and September 13, 2017, in Damascus Township.

RYAN GIBBS, 34 of Lake Ariel was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 4 days nor more than 18 months for one count of Simple Assault (M2). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay restitution in the amount of $800, comply with all recommendations through the Department of Veterans Affairs, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, immediately following parole be placed on alcohol monitoring through the SCRAM program for a period of 6 months, and refrain from contact with the victim. The incident occurred on March 10, 2018, in Paupack Township.

CORY TUTTLE, 27, of Hawley, was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for one count of Propulsion of Missiles into Occupied Vehicle (M1). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $500, pay restitution in the amount of $510.00, complete an anger management course, and refrain from contact with the victims. The incident occurred on May 20, 2017, in Hawley Borough.

ASHLY ROY, 22, of Lakeville, was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M). She was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $300.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, participate in MAAEZ program at the Wayne County Drug and Alcohol Commission, and perform 50 hours of community service. The incident occurred on August 31, 2017, in Texas Township.



NICOLE LOPOSKY, 31, of Moscow, was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs and perform 40 hours of community service and have her operators privilege suspended for 30 days. The incident occurred on March 21, 2018, Salem Township. Her BAC revealed a .148%

MARK DEUEL, 45, of Scranton, was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to DUI. He was also ordered to pay all Court costs and perform 40 hours of community service. The incident occurred on March 24, 2018, South Canaan Township. His blood test revealed controlled substances.

MAEGAN HERRINGTON, 32, of Honesdale, was placed on the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program for a period of 6 months related to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was also ordered to pay all Court costs and perform 40 hours of community service. The incident occurred on December 14, 2017, Honesdale Borough.
