HONESDALE (July 10, 2018) – Wayne Area Agency on Aging participates in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program that provides $20 worth of vouchers to eligible seniors.
The vouchers have been distributed through the Wayne County Seniors Centers and at the five Wayne County Food Pantries in June but there are still some left.
The program, sponsored by the PA Department of Agriculture, is open to Wayne County residents age 60 (by Dec. 31) and older. To receive the vouchers, seniors must bring proof of age in the form of a driver’s license, ID card or birth certificate and proof of residency in the form of a utility bill showing a street address.
Income guidelines range from $22,459 for one person, $30,451 for two people and $38,443 for three.
When picking up vouchers for someone else, even for a spouse or with a power of attorney, you must have a signed proxy form. One can be mailed or faxed by calling the aging office at 570-253-4262 or drop by any of the senior centers prior to the distribution date. You will need to bring proof of age and residence on the day of the distribution as well as the form.
