[ARCHIVED] Hawley Man Receives Up to 5 Years for Felony Assault

HONESDALE -- Senior Judge Raymond Hamill handed down the following sentences on Thursday, April 5:

MARCUS ALEXANDER DAY, 28, of Hawley was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 7 months to 60 months less one day for one count of Aggravated Assault, a Felony of the 2nd Degree, two counts of Terroristic Threats, a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree, and one count of Resisting Arrest, a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $800, submit to the drawing of a DNA sample and pay $250.00 for the cost, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, continue with mental health treatment, complete an anger management course, obtain employment within 30 days of parole, and while on parole, refrain from entering or being on the premises of Weis Markets, located in Texas Township, Wayne County and refrain from having any contact with any of their employees. The incident occurred on October 24-25 in Texas Township.

RONALD CHARPENTIER, 44, of Wilkes-Barre was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional facility for a period of not less than 59 days nor more than 12 months and was placed on probation for a period of 24 months for one count of Simple Assault, a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree and one count of Firearms not to be Carried Without a License, a Misdemeanor of the 1st Degree. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $300, comply with all recommendations from the drug and alcohol assessment, undergo a mental health evaluation, and complete an anger management course. The incident occurred on February 26 in Lebanon Township.

MARY ZALETA, 52, of Waymart was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of 30 days followed immediately by 6 months less 30 days in the Intermediate Punishment Program for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor and one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, an ungraded Misdemeanor. She was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, be placed on House Arrest and Alcohol Monitoring through the SCRAM Program for a period of 2 months, pay restitution in the amount of $27,444.16 and in the amount of $902.84, pay a fine in the amount of $1,000, participate in and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment, and complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program. The incident occurred on September 25 in Honesdale Borough. Her blood test revealed a controlled substance.

PHILIP EDWARD QUACKENBUSH, 53 of Honesdale was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $1,000, participate in and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and maintain employment. The incident occurred on October 20 in Honesdale Borough. He refused a blood test.

ZACHARY ZUVIC, 22, of Lakeville was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 72 hours nor more than 6 months for one count of DUI-Controlled Substance-Impaired Ability/1st Offense, an ungraded Misdemeanor. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $1,000, participate in and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, perform 50 hours of community service within 6 months, and obtain employment. The incident occurred on July 31 in Paupack Township. His blood test revealed a controlled substance.

TAMARA ANN FLETCHER, 4,6 of Beach Lake was placed on probation for a period of 24 months for one count of Retail Theft, a Misdemeanor of the 2nd Degree. She was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution. The incident occurred on November 3 in Lake Township.

ADAM DIXON, 25, of Waymart was placed on probation for a period of 9 months for one count of Theft by Unlawful Taking, a Misdemeanor of the 3rd Degree one count of Harassment, a Summary offense, and one count of Driving While Operating Privilege Suspended/Revoked, a Summary offense. He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $700, pay restitution in the amount of $240, and complete recommendations for anger management, and perform 50 hours of community service within 3 months. The incident occurred on September 26 in South Canaan Township.
