HONESDALE – The Wayne County Commissioners and the many partners involved in Wayne Tomorrow! began publishing a newsletter in 2020, focusing on the progress of this Commissioners-sponsored, community-based economic and community development initiative.

The work of Wayne Tomorrow! started just after the 10-year update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan and  was informed by the need to find common ground to move the county toward a more prosperous and economically sustainable future.

The Commissioners assembled a large and varied group of people, with different perspectives and coming from many different backgrounds to discuss a collective way of moving forward. They spent time looking at the county now and thinking about its future. As they delved into the county’s strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities, a series of common issues arose and became the initial Working Groups.

The efforts of the working groups led to the formation of six Task Forces in 2019 to focus on specific areas of action, such as: Agriculture, Transportation, Housing, Talent & Financial Resource Development, Community Hubs and Community Health & Wellness.

The new Wayne Tomorrow! Newsletter is designed to keep the community abreast of the work of the task forces as they engage experts and the larger community in starting to solve some of the county’s overarching issues.

The newsletter is published on the first of the month and you can sign up for notifications at www.WayneTomorrow.com.
