In the fall of 2017, The Cooperage Project began offering a Pop Up Club for Middle School age students at Wayne Highlands School District. The after-school program provides a wide range of activities in and around the community, conquering topics from coding and robotics to pizza making at a local restaurant.
The youngsters help formulate their own adventures, helping to engage their interest in the various subjects be they academic or mundane. The effort has been a great success, and the Wallenpaupack Area School District has expressed an interest in expanding the club to serve that population as well.
The Cooperage Project recently received a two-year, $50,000 grant from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation to support the free after-school program that puts an emphasis on STEAM subjects. The grant allowed the Pop Up Club to expand to three days a week come fall.
