Contacting Protective Services
To Report Elder Abuse, call the Area Agency on Aging.
Adult Protective Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help those Pennsylvania residents age 60 or older who are at imminent risk of physical or emotional abuse, abandonment, exploitation, or neglect. Those calling to report elder abuse need not give their name to the Area Agency on Aging.
All information is confidential. Those making reports and cooperating with an investigation have safeguards including protection from retaliation and immunity from liability.
If you suspect that an older person is being abused call the Area Agency on Aging and tell them why you believe so. The Area Agency on Aging will follow up on reports received. You only need to have a “Reasonable Cause to Believe” that there is abuse to make a report.
If you have questions, please call the toll free number, 1-800-648-9620, and ask to speak with a Protective Service worker.
Thank you for caring about our older adults!
