Home Improvment Fraud Lands Man in County Prison

HONESDALE – A Jim Thorpe man will spend the next 11.5 to 23.5 months in the Wayne County Correctional Facility after pleading guilty Thursday to one count of home improvement fraud in the Court of Common Pleas.

Senior Judge Raymond Hamill ordered Steven Craigie, 34, to pay a $500 fine and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation for that May 1, 2017 incident in Salem Township.

Judge Hamill also handed down the following sentences

ALEXANDER CLARK, 32, of Lake Ariel was placed on probation for a period of 6 months for one count of DUI (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $300, participate in and cooperate with the drug and alcohol addiction treatment, complete the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, and perform 50 hours of community service. The incident took place on October 2, 2017, in Lake Township. His BAC was .119%.

VICTORIA ZIPPERLEN, 25, of Hawley was sentenced to the Wayne County Correctional Facility for a period of not less than 1 month nor more than 23.5 months for one count of Criminal Use of a Communication Facility (F3). She was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, perform 50 hours of community service, and submit to the drawing of a DNA sample, and pay $250.00 for the cost. The incident occurred between November 12 and 20 in Berlin Township.

DREW DIRLAM, 23, of Honesdale was placed on probation for a period of 12 months for two counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M) and one count of Possession of Controlled Substance (M). He was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $500, and comply with all treatment recommendations in accordance with his drug and alcohol assessment. The incident took place on September 9 in Oregon Township and on October 10 in Texas Township.

VIRGINA GREESON, 45, of Waymart was placed on probation for a period of 6 months for one count of Retail Theft (M2).  She was also ordered to pay the costs of prosecution, pay a fine in the amount of $100.00, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, and satisfactorily address her outstanding warrant. The incident took place on December 14 in Waymart Borough.
