HONESDALE – Beginning next week, the elevator in the Wayne County Courthouse Annex will be taken out of service for planned upgrade and repairs.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access to the Sheriff’s Office, Tax Claim and Tax Assessment will remain at the Sheriff’s Department entrance on the Ninth Street side of the building. Handicap access for the public to the rest of the Courthouse and Annex will be at the Mailroom entrance on the 10th Street side of the Courthouse.
Those seeking entry should ring the buzzer and the mailroom staff will notify the sheriff’s deputies, who will provide entry to the building via a chair lift installed at this entrance. Visitors will then use the new elevator that serves the upper levels of the building. The project is expected to take up to 90 days to complete.
Questions and concerns should be directed to Chief Clerk Vicky Botjer at 570-253-5970 ext. 4050.
